Join renowned nature photographer Jay Collier from Photographers Collective for a 3.5 hour macro photography workshop at The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden in Olinda.
This workshop has been specifically tailored to either kickstart or boost your understanding of macro photography and to gain confidence and control of your camera gear, settings and techniques in the field in order to achieve outstanding macro images.

During this 3.5 hour workshop you will receive:
- A small group of 8 to ensure plenty of time for 1 on 1 tuition
- Learn the ins and outs of camera settings and techniques for successful macro photography
- Learn how to master exposure, focus and depth of field
- How to improve your composition and how to think ahead to create better macro images
- How to incorporate flash for the ultimate control of exposure, increased depth of field and pin sharp results every time
- understand flash duration and how it helps overcome movement
- How to use the focus stacking method
Suggested equipment & important information
- 1 or more morrorless or digital SLR cameras
- macro lens.
- An external flash either on camera but best if you can use it off camera. Be sure to have 2x fresh set of batteries. If you own a flash diffuser or small softbox be sure to bring it!

- Tripods are not required but you can bring one if you like
- A few sheets of white A4 paper
- An A4 sized sheet of cardboard white on one side and black on the other.
- Laptop if you wish to learn how to focus stack using Adobe Photoshop. Jay will demonstrate on his own laptop so it is not essential if you do not have a laptop with Adobe Photoshop installed.
- Comfortable shoes as we will be covering a fair amount of ground.
- Appropriate clothing as we will be outdoors. I suggest long sleeve shirts, long pants and a hat and sunscreen to avoid sunburn. We will stick to the shade as much as possible
- Water Bottle and snacks
- Please arrive at least 15 mins ahead of the scheduled starting time. It may not be possible to catch up on important information or to repeat any section of the workshop for those who arrive late without affecting the experience of others
- MEETING LOCATION is in the main carpark to the right of the main entry. Please do not gather at the main entry gates and meet in the carpark.

- Please choose carefully. Except where otherwise indicated, we do not offer refunds unless an event has to be cancelled, rescheduled to a date you cannot attend, or where required under Australian Consumer Law.
- Refunds are not available for change of mind or circumstances or late arriving / non-arriving guests
- You must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult. During covid-19 group sizes will be limited which may mean a parent or guardian cannot be present and must wait outside the property at all times in order to maintain the maximum allowed group size for outdoor gatherings
