“Maqam” – a word, as a whole world - comprising melodies and intonations, capturing the character and defining the musical scenery of the middle-East. Maqam carries the weight of hundreds of years musical tradition of multiple ethnic regions, which nowadays have become autonomous countries. Maqam has survived the history; the wars; the modernisation and has proven the distinctiveness of its existentiality. This concert will showcase a modern reading of this ancient tradition. Derived from the antient musical scenery, this program will introduce you to the charming world of Azerbajani and Turkish music. Contemporary classical music will revive the antient tradition of Maqam in music for solo and duo piano.
