Facilitated by Marcia Grimm, Janine Fuller and Dr Leah Barclay, this workshop is suitable for children and young people aged 7 - 14yrs.
As part of the Sunshine Coast Marine Bioblitz Exhibition, Marine Explorers invites young ocean enthusiasts to dive into the wonders of marine biodiversity through sound, imagery, and new technology. This interactive workshop brings together art and science, offering kids an exciting way to discover and connect with the marine life of the Sunshine Coast.
Participants will listen to underwater recordings and examine images from the 2024 Marine Bioblitz. They’ll use their curiosity and observation skills to identify marine species, learning new skills to explore the incredible diversity of life in the ocean. The workshop also explores the creative possibilities of marine biology — how new technologies, art, and science come together to help us better understand and protect our oceans.
Perfect for curious minds and ocean lovers, Marine Explorers is a fun and engaging way for kids to experience marine science in action, inspiring the next generation of citizen scientists, artists, and ocean advocates.
