Join a group of butterfly enthusiasts to survey the butterflies of the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary.
Add to our understanding of what butterflies call this important wetland habitat home while building your observation and identification skills.
The survey is part of Australian Pollinator Week awareness and celebration.
Butterflies are an important part of a healthy environment. Both adult butterflies and their caterpillars are food for many creatures like birds. Butterflies also help to pollinate our plants. Many caterpillars can only feed on specific native host plants. Because of this close relationship with plants, butterflies can be an indicator of the environmental health of an area.
Butterfly observations will be made from the Information Centre grounds and along the boardwalk. Please wear sun smart clothing and closed toe shoes.
Meet at the rotunda behind the Information Centre.
Please stick around afterwards for morning tea with the Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary Supporters Group (10-11am).
