Welcome to the Mental Health First Aid Standard 2 Day Course in Wanneroo, to be held at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, where you'll gain vital skills to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Facilitated by Mental Health First Aid Australia Licensed Instructor, Tammie Bullard, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence to recognise, respond and understand when mental health problems or crises arise for adult family members, friends, team mates and others around you.

With a trainer experienced in physical and mental health first aid, with an emergency ambulance paramedic background, in a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment, you will be guided through:

Recognising the warning signs of mental health problems in adults and understanding risk factors, impact, support avenues and treatment options.

Approaching and managing supportive conversations around mental health using an evidence based action plan.

Using crisis response tools and techniques for recognition and assistance when an adult is at risk of harm, implementing an evidence based action plan.

Understanding potential barriers to seeking help, how adults can overcome them and reducing stigma around mental health problems.

Applying supportive self-care as a Mental Health First Aider and the importance of looking after yourself.

Using rigorously evaluated and internationally recognised training, you'll cover the implementation of an evidence based action plan for the following (amongst others) mental health conditions and crises:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Panic attacks
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Traumatic events

Join us for this informative and engaging training to make a difference at home, at work and in your community.

Upon successful completion of the Standard Mental Health First Aid course and short assessment, you will achieve Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) status, valid for 3 years.
