About this event
Mental Health First Aid training
Blended Standard Workplace MHFA training allows students and staff alike to complete MHFA training without attending a full 2 day face-to-face course.
The blended module requires 5-7 Hours of online self-paced Learning, followed by 2 x 2.5 hours of virtual training sessions (over Zoom) led by a licenced MHFA Instructor.
MHFA helps mobilise and empower adults in the workplace and community by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to another adult experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.
Course participants learn how to provide initial support to another adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical evidence-based action plan.

FAQs
How long will I be an Accredited MHFAider for?
Your accreditation is valid for 3 years.
It is recommended that you complete the refresher course after this time.
Are tickets transferable or refundable?
We do not provide refunds for training or any events we run. We do not move students to other training sessions.
You can however find someone to take your place in training. You must notify msa-volunteering@monash.edu of this change at least 48 hours before the training session otherwise we will not allow the transfer to take place. We will not assist you in finding someone to take your place at training.
Why does it cost more to complete this blended course compared to the 2 Full Day Course?
The cost is higher than the standard 2 day course as MHSA Australia charges us more for facilitating this course.
How to I collect my MHFA Manual?
You will be provided with the option of having the manual sent to your desired location (within Australia) or alternatively collecting your manual at the MSA Leadership & Volunteering Office.
- Manual Via Mail: You will be provided with a voucher code to use on the MHFA Australia website to order your manual.
- Manual Via MSA: Email msa-volunteering@monash.edu to arrange a pick up day and time from the MSA Leadership & Volunteering Office
Why choose the Mental Health First Aid?
Evaluations consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training improves a participant’s knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. MHFA courses have also decreased stigma and increased help seeking behaviours.
Standard Mental Health First Aid is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
