About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join us for an inspiring afternoon with Samuel Markham, an award-winning Australian landscape photographer and the Overall Winner of the 2023 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition.

His photograph ‘My Country Burns’ was taken during the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires that devastated Australia and is featured in the 20 Years of Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition.

In this workshop, Samuel will share the story behind his striking image, provide valuable insights into landscape photography composition and discuss other remarkable works within the exhibition.

Whether you're a budding photographer or simply passionate about nature, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn and connect with nature photography.

Please be advised that the workshop will include discussions on the traumatic experiences related to the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires and Samuel Markham’s personal journey of recovery from its emotional impacts.

20 Years of Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year is a South Australian Museum exhibition supported by Australian Geographic and Dr Stuart Miller AM.
