About this event

Navratri Celebration 2024 is here! Join the Launceston Cricket Group for a night of dancing, music, and delicious food at St Ailbe's Hall, Launceston.

The Launceston Navratri Mahotsav, "Navratri Dandiya Night" beckons the auspicious time of Navratri, during which devout reverence is offered to Goddess Durga and the various embodiments of the Hindu divine essence. One of the quintessential elements of Navratri is the Raas Garba, an indigenous dance from Gujarat, wherein people of diverse ages partake in the joyous celebration. The Raas Garba, akin to the rhythmic beats of life, stands as a tribute to the divine feminine energy represented by Goddess Durga or Amba, symbolizing the giver of life.

In the spirit of fostering unity and cultural integration, the Launceston cricket group, acting on behalf of the vibrant Gujarati community, has undertaken the endeavour of orchestrating the Navratri Raas-garba night for the past three years.
