About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Suited for all ages – toddlers and pre-school kids aged roughly 1–5.

Younger siblings are absolutely welcome to come along (under 1's free of charge).

What will we be doing?

We will be having some nature fun, doing some arts and crafts outside in a garden.

There are tables outside we'll be sitting around, but also the kids will be free to run around, look and touch the plants, and be outside with nature.

Various tasks and stations will be set up so the kids are free to wander around and do what they like. Perfect for little explorers.

Specifically, we'll be:

  • Doing lots of painting!
  • Drawing and stamping on blank butchers paper on the table
  • Chopping up leaves with kids scissors
  • Painting leaves
  • Colouring on clipboards which they can walk around with and take anywhere they like
  • Using chalk on pretty much any part of the concrete they like
  • Scribbling on the windows
  • and having lots of fun!

The kids are free to stay on an activity if they are particularly enjoying it, move onto the next thing, or ignore everything and scribble on the butchers paper laid out on the table.

Why should I come?

  • It's lots of fun.
  • Helps your child be creative and learn to love art.
  • A n opportunity to do something different.
  • You don't have to think of an art activity to do at home.
  • You don't have to clean up afterwards!

This class will be more about having fun and learning to love art, than the final outcome of what they create. There will be lots of scribbles, there might be a bit of mess, and there will be some great photos that you can take.

Please dress accordingly for getting messy!

Snacks and breastfeeding welcome.

Exchange and refund policy

I know parenting can be tricky, and sleepless nights, sickness and tantrums occur. Firstly, if you're having a bad morning don't feel like you need to stay home, this is a group of parents and we will all understand. This is a safe space and meltdowns are fine! (in saying that, please bring snacks to help avoid hangry kids!)

  • All bookings made within 24 hours of purchase can receive a refund, no questions asked, just send me a request. - thefuninart@gmail.com
  • Up to 24 hours of class, if you send me through a request I can change your ticket to another class (if there are availabilities in your chosen replacement).
  • Within 24 hours of class, no refunds or exchanges sorry.

Frequently asked questions

What ages does this suit?

1-5 year olds

Can I bring a younger sibling along?

Yes of course! Siblings under 1 year old can come along free of charge

My kid is a bit of a clean freak, how will this work?

This is a perfect experiment for them! Often kids who like to be clean at home, are fine to be covered in paint elsewhere, so it can be good expose them to mess. If it doesn't go as planned, we can clean their hands, or they can opt for crayons and pencils instead.

My kid doesn't really like art, will they be ok?

Some kids don't like drawing, and that's ok. But most kids like painting! And they like mess! And there are also other things like stamps and stickers. If your kid doesn't seem to like art, you can still attend. Afterall, these classes are all about teaching kids to love art.

Do I need to stay?

Yes, you need to stay with your child. They will prefer it!

I'm not creative myself, will I be ok?

It's perfectly fine! You don't actually need to do anything, just come along and sit next to your child. You can encourage them, you can help them, but also, if you don't want to, you can just sit! You've come to the right place, because I'll be creative for you.

Can I bring a friend?

If there's room in the class you can absolutely bring a friend! Please tell them to book online if possible, or if they would like to simply drop-in, they can (as long as there is room). Generally I post on social media if there are spots available for drop-ins, or if a class is a sell out.

I don't know anyone, is that ok?

Most people coming to these classes are coming alone, so don't worry at all about that.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials will be supplied. I have some art smocks but if you have your own I'd suggest bring it along. Bring a snack in case your little one gets hungry.

Can I bring snacks?

Yes!

Is there discounts for siblings?

Siblings under 1 are free of charge (but can still participate). Siblings over 1 years old now have a discounted ticket of $16 each.

My older child has a pupil free day – can they come along?

Sure thing! Just let me know so I can prepare for them.

Are there art smocks?

Yes. I do have art smocks, however depending on how many kids there are in a class I may not have enough for everyone (I have about 7 in various sizes, so I can't guarantee I'll have the perfect fit for your child). If you have an art smock that your kid loves, bring it along.
