NSW State Sporting Organisation Financial Management Forum
Date and time
Location
Australian College of Physical Education
10 Parkview Drive Sydney Olympic Park, NSW 2127 AustraliaDescription
It is important for State Sporting Organisations and their affiliates to implement financial management systems and practices to improve their organisational health. Financial management is more than keeping accounting records, it involves planning, organising, controlling and monitoring financial resources in order to achieve organisational objectives. It is an essential part of organisational management and should not be seen as a separate task to be left to finance staff or the honorary treasurer.
The Office of Sport in partnership with Sport NSW is hosting a NSW State Sporting Organisation Financial Management Forum on Wednesday 26 September 2018.
The theme of the Forum will be the launch of the Financial Management Toolkit developed Pitcher Partners.
The Financial Management Toolkit complements the other resources that the Office of Sport has been developing through the Running Your SSO resource.
Pitcher Partners have a deep understanding of sporting organisations, and the broader not-for-profit sector. The complexities that exist for these boards and committees are often difficult to navigate, particularly given the disparity of size and scale of the resources available. They have worked with the Australian Sports Commission, National Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Organisations around financial reporting mechanisms.
In the Forum:
- Pitcher Partners will faciliate a discussion panel featuring a number of NSW State Sporting Organisations to give insight into financial management from a whole of sports perspective
- Work through some of the more pressing elements of the Financial Management Toolkit
