One Equal Music returns to St Mary’s Kangaroo Point for a second year as part of the Concert Series curated by Director of Music, Brett Sturdy. This year’s program showcases the sumptuous elegance of the French Baroque, featuring works by Rameau, Couperin, Lully, Charpentier, and Marais, performed by five solo voices and continuo section. Highlights include Rameau’s evocative In Convertendo, Couperin’s intimate Leçon de Ténèbres, and Charpentier’s radiant Veni Creator.
The afternoon culminates in Cavalieri’s Lamentations of Jeremiah, a rare masterpiece of sacred drama that blends striking chromaticism and dissonance with the revolutionary stile rappresentativo. This program is a celebration of vocal and instrumental brilliance, offering a captivating journey through some of the most exquisite sacred music of the Baroque era.
