This full-day training workshop, facilitated by the Complex Adolescent Multidisciplinary Team, offers a comprehensive introduction to biopsychosocial approaches in the management of adolescents with chronic illness.
Aimed at healthcare professionals and mental health specialists (across public, private and education sectors), the workshop will focus on the complexities of assessing, formulating, and treating adolescents presenting with chronic physical symptoms, with an emphasis on optimising function.
It is ideal for those seeking to deepen their understanding of holistic approaches to the care of complex medical presentations in adolescents.

Participants will be allocated into small working groups to apply knowledge and skills gained from the day to a series of cases. Cases will support the practice of:
- Formulation and engaging the young person and their family
- Goal-setting around competing treatment priorities
- Treatment planning around the 'building blocks' to optimise function

No, the event won't be recorded. However, registered attendees will have access to learning materials for easy reference at a later time.
Case-based workshops will run for approximately 1 hour, followed by 15 minutes of a broader group discussion facilitated by CAC MDT. Due to the sensitive nature of these discussions, they will not be streamed.
