Hosted by The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, the biannual Paediatric Emergency Update returns on Wednesday 21 May at the Lorimer Dods Lecture Theatre.

This event is tailored for the Multidisciplinary team looking after children in the community and in the hospital including, General Practitioners, Nurses, Paediatric and Emergency trainees, Ambulance and Retrieval services, Emergency Physicians and General Paediatricians. The aim is to update skills and knowledge around paediatric emergency healthcare featuring subject matter experts and guest speakers.

What's new in the May Update?

  • 8 mainstage lectures delivered in person and streamed to our online attendees, covering the latest in paediatric ED presentations
  • Full day programme covering a wider variety of topics.
  • Keynote presentations that will take a deep dive into high blood pressure in children & adolescents, bites and stings, supporting the teenager in an emergency department and Inotropes in ED.
  • Morning tea and lunch provided to facilitate networking opportunities (in-person only).
  • Streaming option is available to offer flexibility to our remote attendees.
  • 4-month access to recordings available to registered attendees (subject to speaker consent).

All profits are re-invested into educational resources in the Emergency Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for training and development of healthcare professionals.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

Cancellations requested by Friday 16 May 2025 will receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations requested from Saturday 17 May 2025 onwards. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to blessy.johndenny@health.nsw.gov.au.

Where is the venue located?

Lorimer Dods Lecture Theatre, Level 4, The Children's Hospital at Westmead (Corner Hawkesbury Road and, Hainsworth St, Westmead NSW 2145). Level 4 is best accessed by the glass elevator which is located on the left as come through the main entrance.

I'm not in NSW or Australia, can I still attend?

Yes, the event will be available to both in person and online attendees. For our online audience, there will be a Microsoft Teams meeting link shared closer to the event date. Please ensure you have access to Microsoft Teams and stable internet connection on the day.

What are the options for public transport?

The Children's Hospital at Westmead is a 15-minute walk from Westmead Railway Station, with connecting bus and train services from Parramatta and Central. A light rail stop is located metres away from the main entrance, with regular services between Westmead, Parramatta and Carlingford.

Is onsite parking available?
