This event brings together leading experts in the field to discuss the diagnosis and management of common childhood neurological diseases, cutting-edge research, innovative treatments, and emerging trends. Whether you're a paediatrician, neurologist or an allied health professional, this conference offers valuable insights into various aspects of neurology and paediatric care.
What's new in 2024?
This year's programme will feature 3 focused sessions followed by a video-based interactive learning session. Recorded presentations will be made available to registered attendees for a period of 3 months (subject to speaker consent).
Acute neurology
- An update on stroke including the recently updated SCHN guidelines.
- How to identify stroke in a child and the risk factors to consider.
- Stroke mimics and management.
- Infection-induced encephalopathies
Epilepsy
- An update on seizure syndromes and an approach to management.
- New treatments and their indications in the paediatric population.
- Epilepsy in adolescence, focusing on fertility, driving and beyond.
Headache syndromes and neurofibramatosis type 1
- An update on headache syndromes and how to differentiate between them.
- An update on headache management including emerging new treatments with a focus on pain.
- Neurofibromatosis type 1 management in the community and a discussion on management of neuromuscular emergencies.

Meet our speakers
- Dr Sibella Bentley: Pain Fellow at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with expertise in paediatric pain management.
- Dr Annie Bye: Senior Paediatric Neurologist and Conjoint Professor with UNSW Medicine. Her research interests include childhood epilepsy and neurogenetics.
- A/Prof Deepak Gill: Clinical Associate Professor and Head of Epilepsy Surgery at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
- Dr Sachin Gupta: Head of the Department of Neurology at CHW. His main interests are paediatric epilepsy and epilepsy surgery.
- Dr Natalie Lim: Neurology Fellow at CHW with experience in stroke management.
- Dr Michelle Lorentzos: Head of the Neurogenetics Service at CHW, specialising in gene replacement therapy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
- A/Prof Shekeeb Mohammad: Associate Professor and Paediatric Neurologist leading the Movement Disorders Service at CHW.
- Dr Nadia Rajabalee: Advanced Trainee in pediatric neurology with a keen interest in epilepsy and clinical ethics.
- Dr Christopher Troedson: Staff Specialist at CHW and an expert in stroke management.
- Dr Wafa Uraba: Neuroimmunology Fellow at CHW with expertise in infection-triggered encephalopathy.
- A/Prof Helen Young: Clinical Associate Professor and Paediatric Neurologist leading the development of a new model of care for children with neurofibromatosis type 1 at CHW.

Lorimer Dods Lecture Theatre, Level 4, The Children's Hospital at Westmead (Corner Hawkesbury Road and, Hainsworth St, Westmead NSW 2145). Level 4 is best accessed by the glass elevator which is located on the left as you enter our main entrance.
The Children's Hospital at Westmead is a 15-minute walk from Westmead Railway Station. Public transport to the Hospital is easy, with connecting bus and train services from Parramatta, Granville, Lidcombe, Strathfield and Central.
