Event Details

Welcome to another peer event from WWDACT’s ‘Our Autonomy’ Project! Join our community facilitators Remi and Li in meeting other members create art and poetry all in one! All poems made will be submitted to go into our publication! Craft supplies and snacks are provided! So come along, we are keen to meet you all!

  • Yes, all assistance animals are welcome. For safety reasons, please be advised the Community centre may request to see accreditation (for example, a certificate, token or harness) or other evidence to demonstrate that the animal is properly trained.

  • We encourage masking at our events, N95 masks and hand sanitizer will be available at events.

The DSS has funded WWDACT to run Our Autonomy until June 2027. It's being run by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities to build skills, knowledge, & confidence. It includes 3 parts: Peer events, Info & skill building workshops, yearly member magazine.

WWDACT is a systemic advocacy and peer support organisation for women, girls, feminine identifying and non-binary people with disability in the ACT region. Established in 1995, WWDACT follows a human rights philosophy, based on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Convention on the Elimination of (All Forms Of) Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). It works with government and non-government organisations to improve the status and lives of women with disabilities in the ACT and surrounding region. Our priority areas include: equity, health, violence prevention, environmental safety and housing.

WWDACT, through its membership, has strong links to relevant ACT advocacy organisations and also has a close association with Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA), the peak organisation for women with all types of disabilities in Australia.

WWDACT has won several awards for our work, including the 2015 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Award for Excellence in Championing Human Rights and the 2012 International Women’s Day Award, Community Category.
