About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

This month we are featuring the articulate and apposite Andrew Brion,

Andrew is a Naarm/Melbourne poet who ruminates on politics, travel and the human condition. He has published a book of poetry, Soul Moves, and has had poems accepted in a number of other magazines, anthologies and outlets including Blue Nib, P76, Bowen Street Press, Pocketry, n SCRIBE, d SCRIBE and ‘A Lighthouse Lost’.

You can follow Andrew here:

Our Poetry and Spoken Word events are (usually) held on the second Saturday of the month at 3 p.m., with a Poetry Writing Workshop running from 2 pm to 3 pm for anyone interested. This month, it is on the third Saturday

An 'open mic' is available for as many poets as we can squeeze in before and after our feature (or as much poetry as we are happy to share before our time is up).

This gig is happy to celebrate young poets (the Little Aesthetics program for anyone 12 and under) as well as people who read the works of other poets (the Rhetorical Recreation Society). If you have work you would like other people to present, you will always find cheerful readers too.

The venue for Perc.U.lations is the wonderfully generous Kafé on Hemmings (86 Hemmings St), in Dandenong, about a 15-minute walk from either Dandenong or Yarraman train stations. There is also handy, free parking available behind the medical centre on the opposite corner.

This event is ticketed using ‘Pay as you Feel’ via Eventbrite, as the Kafé will continue serving the general public. Open-mic and feature presenters are therefore asked to keep their works in the 'PG' range for this event.

Perc.U.lations is affiliated with Radio Laria and is committed to highlighting the voices of women and gender-diverse poets. 50% or more of all features throughout the year will be women, however, men are also encouraged to apply to this event and the open mic is open to anyone.

Perc.U.lations, is taking place on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunerong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded and we extend our respects to Indigenous elders past, present, and emerging.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I park?

There is free community parking kitty-corner to the venue with council security cameras.

Is it easy to get there via Public Transport?

The nearest train station is Dandenong (Cranbourne and Pakenham line), although I find the earlier Yarraman Station results in a prettier walk and takes only a minute or so longer. From Dandenong, you can catch busses. Do check PTV etc. for the best connections for you and when you are arriving.

What is your refund policy?

Just let me know that you need a refund via Social Media, Eventbrite etc. and it shall be done. Please remember I'm a volunteer, and cannot guarantee that this may not be as swift as an incorporated business. Please be kind.
