Posture Analysis and Support Interventions - CAIRNS

Providing the right support in a wheelchair seating system can be complex and compromise the health and well-being of the end user if not prescribed correctly. The Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT) is an effective assessment tool for understanding why the wheelchair user sits the way that they do. How do we build confidence with this process? What other information is required to fully understand the client and their posture? How do we support active postures for wheelchair users?

Our learning objectives for the day:

- Understanding MAT assessments and the data retrieved from them

- Common postural asymmetries and their causes

- Digging deeper into questions and observations to complement the MAT process and increase your understanding of why wheelchair user sits the way that they do

- Recording baseline data for measure outcomes
