Pre-K Kids In The Garden Program (9 week term)

$135 per term first child, $115 per term each subsequent child from same family.
Age range- 2 years to 4 years

Mondays 10:15am-11:15
Class dates- 14th Oct, 21st Oct, 28th Oct , 4th Nov, 11th Nov, 18th Nov, 25th Nov, 2nd Dec, 9th dec

Fridays 1pm-2pm

Week 1
Meet the Animals! Today the kids will meet the animals in our garden—chickens, ducks, goats, baby goats and quails—and learn how animals help us in permaculture.The kids will help feed the animals, collect the eggs, milk a goat and learn how animals help the garden grow.

Water and weed the garden.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 2
Let's Plant a Rainbow! Discover the magic of planting colorful vegetables and flowers in the garden, creating a rainbow of plants. We will plant seeds of different colours (red tomatoes, yellow sunflowers, green lettuce) to create a rainbow garden.

Water and weed the garden.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 3
Bugs and Butterflies—Garden Friends. Learn about the helpful insects that live in the garden and how they help plants grow. We will go on a bug hunt to find friendly insects like ladybugs and butterflies. We will make bug hotels to take home for your garden.
Water and weed the garden.
Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 4
Worms, Worms, Worms! Discover the world of worms and how they help keep the soil healthy. We will dig in the soil to find worms and create a worm farm in a jar to take home.

Week 5
Scavenger Hunt Adventure! We will go on a fun scavenger hunt through the garden to find different plants, rocks, flowers, and more. We will find and match colorful leaves, tiny flowers, and investigate the different textures.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 6
Sun Power! Energy from the Sun. We will learn how the sun helps plants grow. We will make a mini solar dehydrator and set some edible flowers in it to dehydrate.

Week 7
Seeds and Sprouts—How Plants Grow. We will explore how seeds turn into plants through hands-on seed planting. We will sprout bean seeds in clear jars and watch the roots grow and form. We will sow sunflower seeds in the garden.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 8
Smell and Touch—Exploring Magical Plants. We will learn about medicinal plants with a focus on smell and touch. We will explore different plants like lavender and mint. Kids will touch and smell the leaves, then make herbal “potions” and have a tea party.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

Week 9
Garden Picnic and celebration. We will celebrate the last week of term with a fun picnic in the garden. Using fresh produce from the garden, the kids will make a yummy snack to share at our picnic. Bring along a picnic blanket and your favourite teddy and we will picnic in the garden together.

Visit with the chickens, ducks and goats. Cuddle the baby goats.

What to bring each lesson
Enclosed shoes (Gumboots are best)
• Water Bottle
• Morning tea
• Hat
• Gardening gloves (optional but recommended)

In case of wet weather-
We will have under cover wet weather activities organised
In case of severe weather-
Such as- Extreme heat, dangerous storms etc.. Classes may get canceled in the best interest of the health and safety of the children. If available, at the discretion of the facilitator, a makeup class may be offered in this instance.
