Pregnancy Support Group
Pregnancy Support Group - birth and postpartum art.
Welcome to our Pregnancy Support Group event! Join us at the Evenfall Winery Cellar Door for a gathering of mums-to-be (postpartum mums with babies upto 12 weeks are also welcome), where you can share experiences, ask questions, and receive support from others going through the same journey. This is a safe space to connect and learn together.
About Hala - Hala is the founder of Mama Ummi and a postpartum doula based in Launceston, Tasmania.
Her postpartum support offerings include one-off in-home postpartum care visits as well as extended (6 weeks and beyond) postpartum care. She also facilitates Closing of the Bones Ceremonies for women in early postpartum and beyond.
Hala has hosted and collaborated with various healthcare providers to deliver workshops relating to pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period, including chiropractic care, optimal nutrition as well as breastfeeding education.
Her work is underpinned by the core values of giving compassionate postpartum care that honours the sacredness of this season and centres the mother as an integral part of the family’s wellbeing.
Workshop - We are collaborating to deliver a Prenatal and Postpartum Art workshop at the beautiful setting of @evenfall.
On the day, you will be guided via a series of prompts relating to the prenatal and postpartum period, to create a drawing the helps you visualise, prepare for or reflect on your birth or postpartum journeys.
We will primarily be using chalk pastels.
Please note: you will not be told what to draw or shown how to draw a particular picture, but rather guided to create your own piece. Just like your birth and postpartum journeys are unique to you, so too is your artwork!
NO artistic experience is required. Please don’t be intimidated by the word “art!”. This workshop is not for “artists” and this type of art is not supposed to be pretty, colourful or carefully planned. It is raw, honest and spontaneous - just like birth!
Why Birth and Postpartum Art?
Parents experience many benefits from having art-making be part of their childbirth preparation and their postpartum journey.
Art-making in prenatal preparation and the postpartum season gives each parent the experience of moving out of their thinking, rational mind and into their creative, intuitive mind - precisely what labour requires of us!
Who?
This workshop is for you if you want to:
- Visualise your birth and/or postpartum journey;
- Get a taste of the “Labour Land” mindset and the unconscious mind’s ability to generate unlimited possibilities and solutions for any challenges that may arise;
- Get access to beliefs, insights and images that are difficult to access via words alone; and
- Prepare for your birth or postpartum journey in a way that is creative, individualised and FUN!;
Investment $25 a ticket, this includes all art material. Warm drink and freshly baked scones included.
Come relax and bond with fellow expectant mothers. We can't wait to see you there!
