About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours

An improvised quilt is an excellent way to create a piece using your memorable fabric to pay homage eg husbands shirts, Childs dresses, cherished hand-embroidered doilies. In case your husband doesn't have any old shirts or you don't have a husband, you had children who didn't wear dresses and you never liked the family doilies - Maria will have some fabric packs for you to purchase.

Maria utilises her collection of cotton kimonos and futon covers, each piece unravelled and laundered.

The aim of the day is to get started with how to assemble a memento quilt without a pattern, and have a quilt top laid out ready for assembly at home.

BYO materials, cutting mat and rotary cutter. Participants should also bring an old sheet, a notebook and a pen.

note: this is not a sewing workshop per se but the focus will be on assembly.
