About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

This monthly event is a chance to hear an expert speak about a book they have chosen and offer a greater depth and understanding of the book.

We have the book so you can read ahead of the session but it's not essential. Writers and lovers of literature will especially enjoy the unpacking of this work.

You can take part in the discussion or simply sit back and learn.

This month, the featured book for discussion is Love After the End: An Anthology of Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer speculative fiction.

Our guest presenter is Ellen Hodgson.

    About the Book

Have you ever wondered what life could be like after the end of the world? Join us as we take a deep dive into Queer Native American and First Nations Canadian literature and film.

Since the horizon of colonisation, Indigenous people have been living in a post-apocalyptic world. 2-Spirit Indigi-Queer writers give us a glimpse of what another world could look like. Existing in time and space outside of gender, capitalism and ecocide; future imaginings are shared through speculative short-fiction, traditional stories, and films. We’re offered insights in how we might be able to create that very world, here.

We’ll reflect on knowledge shared by Joshua Whitehead, Leanne -Bitasummasea Simpson, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Shelley Niro and Fox Maxy
