Sydney Musculoskeletal Health invites early career researchers and students to take this opportunity to discuss their research in an informal round table conversation with Professor David Beard.
Professor Beard is the newly appointed Surgical & Complex Intervention Trials Program Lead, NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney. David is also current Director of Rosetrees RCS Surgical Intervention Trials Unit and a Professor of Musculoskeletal and Surgical Science and Fellow of Kellogg College at the University of Oxford.
As one of the five Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) Chairs in Surgical Trials in the UK, he is an esteemed clinical trials researcher, highlights of his career include an honorary Fellowship by the RCS for services to surgical science in 2017, being made a British Orthopaedic Association Honorary Fellow in 2021 and becoming a NIHR Senior Investigator in 2022. He is currently involved in several surgical trials and studies, namely those evaluating robotic surgery, knee, hip, spine, hand and shoulder surgery, plastic surgery and ENT surgery.
