About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

As part of City of Ryde’s Artist-in-Residence program, we are delighted to offer another opportunity to meet our artist Louisa Chan and have her guide you through a healing art class at Westward Cottage, Ryde. Immerse yourself in the calming world of seashell art! In this hands-on experience, we’ll explore the therapeutic benefits of nature-inspired art-making, using seashells to express emotions and reduce stress. A perfect way to reconnect with yourself and others through creativity.

Class Overview

This class will introduce participants to the therapeutic benefits of art-making by using natural materials, particularly seashells, to explore mindfulness, emotional expression, and connection to nature. The focus will be on using texture and form to process emotions, with participants creating unique artworks that reflect their personal journeys.

  • Stress Reduction & Emotional Expression: By creating tactile art with shells, participants will engage in a calming, hands-on activity that promotes relaxation.
  • Mindfulness & Connection to Nature: Participants will experience the grounding effect of nature-based art materials, helping them become more present and aware of their emotions.
  • Fostering Community Ties: Through group reflection and sharing, individuals will build connections, understanding, and support within the Ryde community.
