About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours 30 minutes

Creative writing is a powerful way for students to express themselves, develop their storytelling skills, and build confidence in their writing. This workshop equips teachers with practical strategies for teaching narrative writing, focusing on approaches that inspire creativity and improve composition skills. Through the use of micro-mentor texts (https://www.edutopia.org/article/micro-mentor-texts-to-teach-writing/) and high-impact teaching techniques, teachers will learn how to engage students in crafting compelling narratives while enhancing their understanding of creative sentence structures.

In this workshop:

  • Teachers will learn approaches to teaching narrative writing, utilizing micro-mentor texts, creative sentence structures, and high-impact teaching strategies.
  • They will experience the strategies from a student’s perspective.
  • Teachers will examine high-quality exemplar resources.
  • They will be supported to develop a tailored resource for use in their classroom.
