This course is designed to provide ’hands on’ skills and knowledge in the specific processes used (to industry standards), necessary from start to finish an item from tracing a pattern, cutting fabric and step by step sewing techniques and finishing of an item.
By the end of 2 sessions, you will be able to complete a lined Nepalese bag
🏷️Pre- Requisites: Basic sewing skills and ability to operate a sewing machine
✂️Specific skills include:
- Fabrics and grainlines;
- Tracing and cutting a pattern;
- Cutting fabric and lining;
- Seams and seam finishes
- Step by step construction of a lined bag with pockets;
🧵 Please bring to first class:
- Tape measure/measuring tape
- Fabric – old jeans, trousers, sheets you may have at home or purchased from Op-shops for no more than $5.00.
- Scissors – paper and fabric (invest in a good fabric scissors)
- Butchers paper/any paper to cut pattern
- Cut Bag pattern on paper – 38cm x 27cm, 27cm x 25cm and 165cm x 14cm
- Dressmaking pins
- Needle and thread
- Pen/Pencil
- Rubber
- Ruler
- L- Square if expensive buy a small set square (required to check 90-degree angles)
- Note pad
- Dressmaking chalk or pen
