Silent Reading Party

It is where you are joined by other readers in a group setting and in companionable silence. The appeal of silent reading parties is shared company without pressure of having to talk.

Anything you want! If you don't have a book on hand, library staff are available to give suggestions. It can also be digital or an audiobook, in which case we ask that you bring headphones.

Light refreshments will be provided for the session, including coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. General library rules apply: no hot food or ice creams, but other snacks are fine. Lidded drinks are welcome.

The library is an open space shared with all manners of customers. It is expected you will hear ambient chatter and other general background noise.

Nope! After having your attendance checked off, feel free to find a seat and start reading. We have allotted the final 30 minutes for those who would like to share their reading and thoughts, but this is not compulsory.

This event is primarily for adults, though young adults and families are welcome to join. We only ask that if there are any children who need to release some energy, that they go for an adventure to the kid's area on the Lower Ground Floor.
