It is my absolute pleasure to warmly welcome you to SIS2025 “2nd International Solutions & Innovations Symposium in Implant Dentistry” along with our distinguished speakers from across the globe. This follows the first-ever SIS2023 held in Sydney, Australia which agreeably, happened to become a lucrative and rewarding scientific event.
The 2nd biennial SIS event features world-renowned clinicians, researchers, and scientists who would present impactful clinical data on two main themes: peri-implant health and disease as well as full-arch therapy. Dr. Alberto Monje Correa, DDS, MSD, PhD
Dr. Alberto Monje earned his DDS from the European University of Madrid, Spain. He then moved to the University of Michigan, where he began his research career as a clinical post-doctoral fellow. At Michigan, he also earned a master’s degree in Periodontology from the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. Immediately after he was awarded the prestigious ITI Scholarship to study at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He later completed his PhD at the University of Granada, Spain (2019), focusing on alveolar bone architecture.
Dr. Monje has authored/co-authored over 160 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to several book chapters, international presentations, and lectures. He is also actively involved in several professional organizations and serves on the editorial boards and as a reviewer and associate-editor for numerous high-impact journals in the fields of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.
Currently, Dr. Monje runs a private practice specializing in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry (CICOM). He holds adjunct professor positions in the Department of Periodontics at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, and the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. He is also the co-editor of the book Unfolding Peri-Implantitis.
Dr. Lisa Heitz Mayfield BDSc, MDSc, Dr. Odont.
Professor Lisa Heitz-Mayfield, an Adelaide graduate, earned her Master's in Periodontology (1996) from Lund University, Sweden, followed by a PhD 2 years later, focusing on periodontal and peri-implant regeneration. She received a scholarship at the Brånemark Osseointegration Centre in Sweden and an ITI scholarship at the University of Berne, Switzerland, where she later led the Oral Microbiology Research Laboratory (1999-2003). During this period, she was awarded the prestigious André Schroeder Research Prize in Implant Dentistry.
With over 45 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, Prof. Heitz-Mayfield also contributed the chapter on peri-implant infections in the latest edition of Jan Lindhe's Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Prof. Heitz-Mayfield is also a co-author of the ITI Treatment Guide: Biological and Hardware Complications in Implant Dentistry. Her previous roles include Chairman and also past Education Delegate of the ITI Australasian Section, ITI Study Club Director (Perth West), and Fellow of the International College of Dentistry, Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, and Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy respectively.
Currently, she serves as an Adjunct Professor at the International Research Collaborative at The University of Western Australia, an Associate Professor at The University of Sydney, and The University of Hong Kong. She is the Chair of the ITI Research Committee and a member of the ITI Board of Directors. Prof. Heitz-Mayfield is actively engaged in implant dentistry and periodontology research and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. She was also appointed Editor-in-Chief of the highly regarded journal, Clinical Oral Implants Research.
Dr. Yudai Ogawa, DDS
A graduate of Tokyo Dental College, with a Degree in Dental Surgery (DDS), Dr. Yudai Ogawa became an Assistant Professor at Keio University Hospital in 2016, contributing to numerous publications and conference outputs. Dr. Ogawa is a specialist in periodontal and implant surgery and has lectured across Japan and abroad, engaging in dental care under the world-renowned Dr. Tomohiro Ishikawa, founder of 5D Japan, at the Ishikawa Dental Hamamatsu Perio Implant Centre. Dr. Ogawa is affiliated to the Japan Society of Oral Implantology, and Japan Society of Dental Microscopy and is moreover certified in Periodontology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and remains a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery, Keio University Hospital.
Dr. Ogawa is the Founder and President of THREEE, a Japanese Association of Dental Clinicians, which unites dentists in a collaborative network focused on sharing knowledge and learning to provide the perfect treatment method for each patient. Dr. Ogawa has developed a reputation for his surgical expertise and patient-focused care and now operates as a Director at U DENTAL OFFICE in Ebisu (Tokyo).
Dr. Paulo Carvalho, DDS
Dr. Paulo Carvalho obtained his DDS from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the University of Porto (FMDUP), Portugal. He is the Head Coordinator of the Implant Prosthetics Clinical Residency at the Foramen Dental Education training centre in Porto, where he educates in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation, with a particular interest in FP1.
With a deep passion for Periodontology, Prosthodontics, Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery, and Oral Rehabilitation, Dr. Carvalho is a frequent speaker at both national and international dental conferences. He holds a postgraduate degree in Implant Dentistry, Mucogingival and Periodontal Surgery, and Advanced Oral Surgery and Autologous Bone Grafts via Implant (Brazil). Additionally, he completed his residency in Aesthetic Dental Rehabilitation at Foramen Dental Education. Dr. Carvalho also owns and operates a private practice in Porto, specializing in Implant Dentistry, Periodontology, and Aesthetic Oral Rehabilitation.
Dr. Glen Liddelow, BDSc, MScD, DClinDent (Pros), MRACDS(PROS)
Dr. Glen Liddelow is a highly qualified Prosthodontics specialist, holding a Bachelor and Master of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia, as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) from the University of Sydney. He is an active member of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists and has earned fellowships from several esteemed organizations, including the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Liddelow serves as a lecturer and online expert advisor for the UCLA Global Institute for Dental Education (gIDE) program and works as a Consultant Prosthodontist at both Perth Children’s Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital in Australia. He also provides consultation services for the Craniofacial Unit at Perth Children’s Hospital and serves as an examiner for the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists.
As the Director of The Brånemark Osseointegration centre in Perth and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia, Dr. Liddelow addresses both surgical and prosthetic dimensions of implant dentistry.
Dr. Liddelow has delivered over 300 presentations and lectures nationally and internationally and is involved with various university and industry boards dedicated to dental education. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, he is part of the faculty at the Global Institute for Dental Education and regularly publishes research on subjects including immediate loading, surface technology, implant aesthetics, and the management of advanced bone resorption.
Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu, DMD, Cert. Prostho.
Dr. Petros Yuvanoglu graduated summa cum laude from Semmelweis University, Budapest, earning his dental degree with top honours and ranking first in his class. In 1998, he was awarded a Certificate in Prosthodontics from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, where he still holds an appointment as an Adjunct assistant professor position. He also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston.
Dr. Yuvanoglu has been in full-time private practice as a Specialist Prosthodontist since 1999, focusing primarily on prosthodontic rehabilitation with dental implants. He co-founded the “SameDay Dental Implants” Clinic in Dubai, U.A.E. The clinic is notable for its advanced approach to dental implants, having been designated as a Brånemark Osseointegration centre and a ZAGA-Zygoma Implant Centre in Dubai, where he serves as Co-Director. Dr. Yuvanoglu has lectured internationally, on the “Same Day Implants & Teeth” reconstruction protocol, contributing significantly to advancements in implant dentistry,
Dr. Yuvanoglu is a highly regarded keynote speaker at both national and international dental congresses and has been invited to speak at several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED), the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and the Pikos Institute.
Dr. Barbara Woodhouse, MBBS, B.DSc, MDSc, FRACDS, FFDRCS (Irel), FRACDS (OMS)
Dr. Barbara Woodhouse graduated with a degree in dentistry from the University of Queensland in 1978. She worked for Queensland Health and in private practice, both in rural Queensland and Brisbane, before choosing to specialize in oral and maxillofacial surgery. After earning a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, she returned to the University of Queensland to teach and pursued a Master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery, alongside a four-year surgical training program at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. To further her expertise, Dr. Woodhouse completed her final year of training at a prestigious facility in the United Kingdom and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
In recognition of her work in England, she was awarded a traveling Fellowship to Europe. Upon returning to Australia, Dr. Woodhouse began practicing privately in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery while also completing a medical degree at the University of Queensland. She later earned a specialist Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
From 1994 to 2009, Dr. Woodhouse served as a consultant at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, where she pioneered several innovative techniques for oral and maxillofacial surgery in Queensland. She also held the position of Lieutenant Colonel Consultant to the Australian Army and served on the national board of examiners for specialist registration in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Woodhouse is a sought-after speaker at medical and dental conferences both in Australia and internationally.
During her subsequent eight years as chair of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS), Dr Woodhouse coordinated the training of local surgeons in countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, and Vanuatu, through Operation Interface, an NGO affiliated with the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. She continues to undertake significant humanitarian work in the Asia-Pacific to improve the lives of those with facial deformities, often in minimal facilities and with no backup or support. Dr. Woodhouse has also pioneered several Australia-first surgical techniques and worked to establish maxillofacial services in rural and regional areas. Through her ongoing philanthropy technical expertise, Dr Woodhouse was a 2023 QLD Australian of the Year Nominee.
A lifelong learner herself, Dr. Woodhouse frequently travels abroad to enhance her knowledge and surgery skills. Dr. Woodhouse is a Principal Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at Wickham Terrace Surgical Centre, Brisbane, focussing all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular focus on correcting facial deformities, prioritizing the wellbeing and care of her patients, with a personal high standard of medical care.
