About this event

As a valued and respected member of the multicultural community, we invite you to attend the Home Affairs Skilled Worker community forum and engage in impactful conversations about skilled migration.

Australia is facing a labour shortage in many sectors, and skilled migration has an important role in helping address these skill gaps and workforce shortages. In response, the Australian Government recently announced an increase of 35,000 permanent visas available in 2022-23, from 160,000 to 195,000 places. Of these, 142,400 are for skilled visas.

In support of this program, Home Affairs has launched a campaign to attract overseas skilled workers. Organisations like yours are important in reaching potential migrants in their home countries and encouraging more skilled workers overseas to choose Australia for their permanent home.

This forum will be an opportunity for you to speak directly with Home Affairs officials, hear about the updated skilled migration program, and receive information you can share with colleagues, friends and family overseas.

The event will open with an address led by a senior Home Affairs representative, followed by a discussion of key topics and a Q&A session where you can ask your own questions.

Registration closes on 24/4/2023 at 3pm.

Please note, attendance at this event is by invitation only, for yourself and up to two other people from your organisation. All attendees should register for a ticket. Light refreshments will be provided.

We look forward to welcoming you to these critical discussions and hope you will share information about these opportunities for skilled workers to make Australia their new home.
