Soma: Wild Bodies, Wild Stories
A dance improvisation & storytelling workshop, as part of The Wildflower Print Project by The Bop Arts Co-op.
Description:
Come and move in this soul-nourishing dance improvisation event where we’ll dance, explore, connect and rest.
With a blend of gentle movement prompts and an eclectic soundscape - ranging from electronica to world beats, ambient textures, and pop rhythms - we’ll invite the body to move freely and intuitively. You will dance your own dance, let go of tension, rediscover your wildness, and follow your body’s natural impulses.
After moving, we’ll slow down for some deep rest before gathering in circle to share our nature stories and celebrate the wild beauty we’ve experienced - within and around us.
No previous dance experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and an open heart.
This event is for anyone who wants to:
- Reconnect with their body and dance freely
- Release tension and cultiviate more joy
- Embrace their intuitive, untamed rhythms
- Share meaningful stories in community

Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Cost: $25
What to bring: BYO a yoga mat, water bottle, blanket and comfortable clothes you can move in. Tea and biscuits provided after the event. Come with a short story or memory you have where nature spoke to you in a profound, fun or interesting way.
Facilitator
Lyndel Quick is a dancer, performance maker and teacher living in Inverleigh on Wadawarrung country. A graduate of Deakin University, Rusden, she has designed and implemented art programs, created performances and choreography for over 25 years. Lyndel’s creative work is influenced by improvisational dance methodology, nature, storytelling, community and embodied mythology. She is the director of The Loft, a dance and movement studio in Geelong, and the artistic director of performance company, Blink Dance Theatre.
