The one-day SoSAFE User Training is for people who work with individuals with a disability who want to implement the SoSAFE Framework. It introduces the training participants to the framework, tools and the rationale behind SoSAFE.
The SoSAFE! ® Framework, including the tools, are designed on the basis of best practice to reduce vulnerability of people with a moderate to severe intellectual disability to sexual abuse and improve their quality of social life and sexual health.
The SoSAFE Framework consists of tools, language and practices that clarify social complexity for us all through:
• presenting a simplified, visual, and ‘rule-governed’ model of social reality
• teaching the type and degree of verbal and physical intimacy appropriate with different categories of people
• providing strategies for moving into intimate relationships in a safe and measured manner
Training participants will learn how to implement the Framework when working with one on one, in group sessions, and across their organisation.
SoSAFE Training includes a copy of the SoSAFE Manual.
SoSAFE is being presented at no cost to attendees as a key part of the Safer Girls, Safer Women project. The Safer Girls, Safer Women project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services .
