About this event

Join us for a special conversation with Australian icon Ken Done, as he discusses his art series exploring the Sydney midget submarine attack.

These works were commissioned by the Mosman Art Gallery to commemorate the Japanese midget submarine attack in Sydney Harbour in May 1942, which is the theme of the Museum's current exhibition Secret Strike.

The attack created fear and havoc across the harbour city and around the nation. It was the first and only time that Sydney came under foreign attack. Twenty-seven people died including twenty-one Navy personnel aboard the HMAS Kuttabul and six young Japanese submariners.

Ken Done’s work is synonymous with the daily life of Sydney and its iconic harbour and his art is also well-known and respected in Japan.

Event includes light refreshments before the talk.
