Our Speechie

Jackie is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, practising in Hobart since 2014. She currently works with adult patients in hospital, but previously has seen lots of preschoolers for speech therapy. She has had two preschoolers of her own and still reads out loud to them, although she finds it hard to use different voices for characters. Jackie believes that reading out loud with kids is one of the best things to do ever! Come along to find out why.

Speech Pathology Australia talks raise awareness in developing language and literacy in children aged 0 to 5 years old, as well as offering tips for parents and carers to use at home.

Association’s members go out to local Australian libraries to share their knowledge about the role of speech pathologists in language and literacy development for 0 to 5 year old’s, as well as information about what you can do at home, through a presentation and demonstrated book reading of one of the winning books from the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards. These talks are free to the community.
