Mastering education: Why some boys flourish in a modern world.

As parents increasingly expressed dissatisfaction with the intellectual formation of their children, the Chesterton Schools Network (CSN) rapidly emerged as an educational model rooted in the Catholic faith. The model gained traction in North America, especially during the COVID crisis, as parents became more aware of what their children were being taught.

Join us for a pivotal evening at Hartford College, where we'll explore the liberal arts education that puts faith, critical thinking, and holistic development at the forefront.

A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it." - G.K. Chesterton

Dale Ahlquist, who founded over 60 CSN schools, will explore the growing interest in G.K. Chesterton as a model of a 'complete thinker' and how this has influenced modern education in schools.

Ahlquist promotes an "atmosphere of Catholic joy," in education, integrating faith into every aspect of learning. Chesterton schools produce well-rounded, confident graduates who are highly regarded by universities. Dale will discuss how the model encourages cross-disciplinary learning, fosters the art of debate (the ‘Socratic method’), and addresses the crisis of meaning affecting young men today.

The goal is well formed, confident and well-adjusted students prepared to lead in their communities. This is your opportunity to hear from the expert himself and learn how the Chesterton approach is transforming young boys into well-rounded, confident, and articulate men – ready to succeed in life.

Described as the most effective education reformer you’ve never heard of” (City Journal), Dale is a renowned scholar, author, and entertaining uplifting speaker. He is probably the world's leading authority on the life and work of G.K. Chesterton. He is the creator and host of the popular EWTN television series "G.K. Chesterton: The Apostle of Common Sense." Dale has authored six books and edited fourteen others, all focused on Chesterton's ideas and their relevance today.

Ahlquist is a transformative figure in education. Now expanding internationally, these schools are known for their classical Catholic curriculum that blend rigorous academics with a deep sense of faith, producing well-rounded and thoughtful graduates. Dale’s work has been instrumental in reviving interest in classical integrated learning, making him a pivotal figure in the restoration of modern education.
