About this event

For 2022, Tour Guides Australia is offering a series of FREE webinars for our members. The theme of the webinars is 'Tell Us About ...'

Come on a virtual journey with us as we travel around Australia and learn from experts in our capital cities and key tourist regions. The aim of these webinars is for tour guides to develop a broader general knowledge about Australia and to enhance our conversations with guests travelling between locations.

Our first webinar is 'Tell Us About Darwin' and we are privileged to introduce our expert presenter, Allan Mitchell.

Allan has lived in the Northern Territory for 51 years. His career includes working for Northern Territory Police (31 years) and serving as an alderman with City of Darwin (12 years). After retiring twice(!!), Allan began tour guiding on the hop on/off city tour, conducting walking tours, guiding for interstate coach tours and leading shore excursions.

Allan is a former member of Guides of Australia. He strongly believes that our guests have the right to expect their tour guides to be professional at all times and to have good knowledge of their subject.

Our virtual tour of Darwin with Allan will include

  • A brief history of Darwin
  • Overview of First Nations culture
  • Basic facts and statistics
  • Important people, events and places that have shaped Darwin
  • Key attractions (to recommend to our guests)

The presentation will be approx 50 mins and there will be time for Allan to answer questions posted through the Chat for the final 10 mins or so.

After booking, and closer to the event, you will receive a Zoom invitation link to join the webinar.
