About this event

  • Event lasts 5 hours

This term’s project

This term we will be learning about cracking passwords! If you already know some python you’ll take your skills to the next level by adding extensions. If you don't know any python, we'll teach you on the day! Each project is separate, so it doesn't matter if you have come to a workshop before or not.

Who can come

GPN projects are designed for girls and gender minorities aged 12-18. But, interested upper primary schoolers are also welcome to attend. If you are interested in trying new things, want to learn a little bit (or a lot more!) about IT skills, and/or just want to meet new people, you should give GPN a try!

What you need to know

You don’t need to know anything to come to GPN! Whether you are a beginner or a programming pro we’ve got something for you to learn at GPN.

What to bring

We provide the computers, lunch and anything else you need to do the workshop. Just bring a water bottle so you can stay easily hydrated during the day. You do not need to bring a printed ticket on the day, just bring yourself!

Catering

A huge thanks to the Burnie Rotary Club for sponsoring our catering!

Morning tea will be fruit and bakery treats. A sandwich platter (curried egg / chicken and lettuce) and fruit platter will be provided for lunch.

You can nominate dietary restrictions in your registration. We can accommodate vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free sandwiches. Attendees with additional dietary requirements or differing food preferences to the above will need to self-cater (please bring morning tea and a packed lunch. We can refrigerate and heat it if needed).

Location

The workshop is held at the UTAS Cradle Coast Campus at West Park. We will let you know which building via email the day before the workshop.

RSVP

Event registration ends at 11:30pm on Friday November 8th.

Media consent form

We like to put a few pictures from the workshop up on our social media page. To do this, we need your parents to sign a media consent form. It's fine if you don't want pictures taken, just let us know!

COVID-19

The event organisers have taken measures to ensure a COVIDSafe event in conjunction with the University's COVIDSafe Plan. For more information, refer to the University’s COVID-19 response page: https://www.utas.edu.au/about/safety-security-and-wellbeing/coronavirus
