This course will focus on key events and people from the 17th and 18th Centuries.

We will spend time considering several wars and revolutions as well as developments in Science, Philosophy and the Christian Religion.

Each day will have 4 hour-long lectures and will run from 10am to 3pm at Burwood Presbyterian Church.

Day 1 (Monday the 4th August)

  1. The Thirty Years’ War
  2. The English Civil War
  3. The Enlightenment
  4. The World of Science, especially Astronomy

Day 2 (Tuesday the 5th of August)

  1. The American Revolution
  2. The French Revolution
  3. Revivals (two hours) – Pietism; Whitefield; Wesley; Others; Impact on Society
