The Big Sing’s Big Film (About A Big Sing)
The Gertrude Players invite you to come together for a special viewing of Tina - an up-lifting and inspiring story of love, perseverance and song.
Tina is a film about overcoming grief and the power of song, and is breaking box office records in NZ. As we prepare for the 25th anniversary of the first Big Sing, join friends, family and other singers to celebrate a life in song.
It's going to be a fun and heartwarming event at the Cinema Nova that you won't want to miss ... and best of all - all the money raised goes to support disadvantaged and disaffected young people through the promotion of art and culture – and particularly through music.
So far - together we've raised well over a quarter of a million dollars.
So grab your friends and family, and let's have a sing big together!
Book early to avoid disappointment! (And don't arrive late ... we have the cinema for a limited period and the movie will start on time!)

Movie Synopsis:
Grieving her daughter's death in the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, Mareta Percival (Anapela Polataivao) reluctantly takes on the role of substitute teacher at an elite, all-white private school. Unexpectedly, she discovers students lacking guidance and care, prompting her to form a choir that engages with the symphony of her Samoan background. While building a community of like-minded students traumatised by the earthquake, Mareta provides inspiration and support within a privileged New Zealand community that resists her every move.
