About this event

Delve into the heart of what it means to be resilient. In this workshop you will gain a profound understanding of why resilience is crucial in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world.

Resilience isn’t just about bouncing back from difficulties; it’s about growing through challenges and emerging stronger.

We’ll introduce you to the Six Pillars of Resilience, each a critical component in building a resilient life. These pillars aren’t abstract concepts—they are practical, actionable strategies you can integrate into your daily life. You’ll learn how these pillars interconnect and support each other to create a solid foundation for resilience.

  • Self-awareness: How to increase your feelings of control, choices and flexibility.
  • Self-regulation: Practical tools to regulate your nervous system, increasing your sense of wellbeing.
  • Optimism: How to orient yourself towards a more optimistic mindset.
  • Mental Agility: How to respond to challenges with flexibility and creativity.
  • Character Strengths: Focusing on and enhancing your existing skills for resilience and mental toughness.
  • Connection: Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships, and improve communication skills for better interactions.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements

Your Facilitator is Karl Baker

Karl Baker is the founder of Mindfulness Works. Over 40,000 people have completed the Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation course he created.

I moved to paradise (Noosa) over 6 years ago from New Zealand. I have been practising meditation for over 22 years.

10 years agao, I established Mindfulness Works, the largest mindfulness meditation training organisation in Australia and New Zealand. I lead a team of over fifty mindfulness meditation educators, including psychotherapists, counsellors and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) teachers as part of the Mindfulness Works organisation.

My approach to mindfulness is centred around my own exploration of what it means to be radically self-accepting. I love combining my love of meditation and walking by offering these events.

“Karl has a gentle and reassuring message that we are all okay, exactly as we are, in this moment, no matter what is going on in life. Not only is radical acceptance explained, Karl has a way of personal sharing that suggests that ‘not good enough’ and comparison are untruths we tell ourselves. He easily infused a message of oneness, okay-ness and we’re alright as we are in the workshop. During the session, I felt at ease, seen, heard and supported along with the other group members. Feeling enough takes practise and certainly Karl is showing us the way. Thank you, Karl.” — Michelle Ryan

“Since doing this course, I have been sleeping much better, I feel much more in control of my emotions, I have enjoyed ‘noticing’ my own state, but also it has transferred to everything around. This means I am re-enjoying many things that I had been taking for granted.” — Sandy Good
