What you'll do
Join this tufting class in Melbourne and learn how to create unique home decor projects!This workshop is designed for beginners, offering you a chance to try tufting on smaller projects as a taster class before committing to our longer Tufting Workshop of 3.5hrs to complete more detailed and larger projects like rugs, large mirrors or large wall art.In this taster class you can, choose from a variety of home decor options such as:
- A fluffy mirror frame
- A textured vase
- Crazy cool journal cover
- Wall art or home decor
- Keyboard rugs
- Pen holders
- Photo frame
- Keyrings
- A luscious mug rug to take home with you or gift to someone special
To ensure you finish your project the size of your creation should be 30cm square or less and we will assist you in the design stage to make sure it will be something enjoyable to tuft. During the workshop, you’ll receive guidance on using the equipment and materials while creating something amazing.
Class schedule:
- 1. Welcome and introduction to equipment and safety protocols.
- 2. Choose your design, use our stencils or BYO and draw it on your canvas!
- 3. Choose from a variety of yarn colours and start tufting!
- 4. Apply backing glue/latex to your rug.
- 5. Learn how to level and carve to clean up your creation.
- 6. Adhere your creation to your home decor or attach felt backing for mug rugs or wall art.
- 7. Show off your unique tufted home decor art!!
You’ll leave with a newfound skill and a beautiful handmade decor project to showcase in your home. Dive into this fun and creative activity of tufting in Bayside Melbourne at the cosy creative space Bayside Makerspace!
Please note: This workshop is a shorter taster class and intro to tufting. If you're looking to make a full custom 55cm x 55cm custom rug with your design, we offer a longer Tufting Workshop. Check out our other Tufting Workshop at Bayside Makerspace "Tufting a Custom Rug Workshop." That workshop is 3.5 hours and allows time to create larger, more detailed pieces.
