Join us for a virtual museum tour at MAP mima where the immersive 360-degree projection Cube is transformed into a gallery of artworks by three-time Archibald Prize winner William Dobell. In celebration of the Dobell Festival, the guided tour will trace the life and art of one of Australia’s greatest artists who contributed to the artistic culture of Australia and the Lake Macquarie region.

Our state-of-the-art 360-degree projection Cube will be transformed into a stunning gallery showcasing the work of William Dobell, ranging from his popular and controversial portraits to his stunning landscapes of Wangi Wangi. This captivating experience will explore the evolution of William Dobell’s practice. Known for his lively and expressive approach to capturing the subjects of his work, Dobell went beyond mere representation and turned the ordinary into the extraordinary. This virtual tour offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the artistic contributions of Dobell in an immersive format.

Accessibility

MAP mima is located in Speers Point Park, off Park Street, on the edge of Lake Macquarie. MAP mima is accessible by ramp with accessible toilets. MAP can be reached easily from the lake foreshore cycleway, the water, or by public transport. There is plenty of parking for cars, and buses with accessible spaces available, onsite and in the surrounding parklands.
