About this event

Participants of this masterclass will get the opportunity to learn from experienced VR documentary writer, producer and director, Briege Whitehead from Australian based production company, White Spark Pictures.

White Spark Pictures specialises in international factual television and immersive, interactive productions.

When: Friday, May 3rd, 2019

Time: 10am - 3pm

Where: The Backlot Perth - 21 Sampson Street,

Fee: This is a subsidized event, however, participants are asked to pay $15.00 to cover lunch and morning tea.

What to expect: Participants will be able to experience Briege’s immersive virtual reality (VR) work, The Antarctica Experience,and examine the writing and directing challenges, approaches and strategies arising in the creation of VR content.

This event will be held in conjunction with a larger VR initiative in Perth produced by Visor Immersive, and supported by Screenwest.

About Briege Whitehead - Briege is a Producer, Director and Writer based in Perth, WA. In 2016 Briege established her own production company White Spark Pictures specialising in international factual television and Virtual Reality. White Spark works with a number of international and domestic broadcasters and distributors, such as Discovery Asia-Pacific, Cineflix Rights and The WA Museum, and operates with a strong emphasis in sales and production. Previously Briege has worked as Producer/Writer on the successful Showrunner Production series 72 Dangerous Places to Live and 72 Cutest Animals, whose broadcasters include National Geographic International, Discovery, MTG and Netflix Global. Her work as director in short film and interactive was recognised with back-to-back nominations for ‘Best Interactive’ at the Australian Atom Awards and WA Screen Awards for #EmilyWasted and Shirtfront. Recently her short drama Crumbs has earned official selection in the St Kilda Film Festival, St Tropez international Film Festival and Revelation Perth International Film Festival. Briege and White Spark are currently producing two 12-part series for international distribution, Impossible Planet and Haunted Crime Scenes, which follow on from the ground-breaking VR documentary The Antarctica Experience which is screening in Canberra in 2019 following its highly successful debut at the WA Maritime Museum.
