Welcome to the Weave a basket from hand dyed natural fibres special event!
Come join us at the Denmark Art club for a fun-filled day of creating your very own hand woven basket! Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, this event is perfect for anyone looking to make a special gift for a loved one.
The weaving of baskets is as old as the history of man.
Hunter gatherers used them for foraging for and the carrying of food, storing valuable personal treasures and trading them with other clans for equally valuable goods.
Basketmaking is a skill and although we now no longer forage the landscapes collecting fibres, we can access materials and learn the art of creating something useful, practical and beautiful.
Each basket is uniquely designed, and hand built by you. The warmth of your hands shape it, your strength keeps it tight, your enjoyment and love put into it during the process makes it an enjoyable process, an experience you’ll always remember….and hopefully pass on to others.
You will be guided through the weaving process step by step, ensuring that your creation is not only adorable but also meaningful. This event is a great way to unleash your creativity and craft a unique keepsake that will be cherished forever.
It’s addictive and once you’ve learnt the basics and are spiralling the coils with confidence, you won’t want to put it down. Sharing the experience with other like-minded people adds to the enjoyment of the class.
Fibres have been hand-dyed with indigenous, natural plant/flower/fruit dyes. So many options it’s hard to pick.
We will give our hands a break mid class to enjoy a home-baked morning or afternoon tea.
A take home pack of extra materials and a needle is supplied so you can ensure your basket can be completed at home if you run out of time.
Includes all materials and tools.
