Webinar details

State Library of Queensland is excited to welcome Professor Marek Kowalkiewicz, Chair of Digital Economy at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), to deliver this engaging and insightful webinar exploring how the digital economy is reshaping education and what it means to teach and learn in an age shaped by algorithms, AI and information overload.

Through real-world examples from education and beyond, Professor Kowalkiewicz will unpack how digital technologies are transforming classrooms into dynamic learning environments. He'll reveal how the "botterfly effect" is already creating ripples through educational practices and share tools to help students evaluate information credibility and think critically.

Perfect for educators looking to recognise the algorithmic revolution happening right now and navigate the opportunities (and complexities) of teaching in our tech-driven present—not some speculative future.

This webinar offers a valuable professional learning experience, while also providing a springboard for themes to be further explored at State Library of Queensland’s 2025 Curriculum Connect Symposium: Building critical thinking skills in an age of misinformation and artificial intelligence (AI), Thursday 5 June.

Date: Wednesday 21 May 2025

Live streamed via Teams: 4:00 – 5:00 pm (includes 10 minute Q&A)

Cost: $30.00
