Frequently asked questions

Do I need any equipment?

Not at all! We have a fleet of 10-14 wheelchairs at any given time and of varying sizes. Just make sure you bring your own drink bottle, small towel if needed, and any other personal items that you might need. We recommend wearing athletic clothing.

What if I don't have a physical disability, can I play?

Yes, of cause you can! As we live in Tasmania we do do not have a large number of wheelchair users to participate and this means we encourage people without disability to get involved and support those with a disability to enjoy the sport and be able to play games; 3 x 3 or 5 x 5

Who is ParaQuad Tasmania?

ParaQuad Tasmania is the leading, trusted voice for people living with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and physical disability in our state. We provide information, referral, peer support, access information, advocacy, educational and sporting programs – and we’ve been doing this for 30 years.

Does it cost anything to play?

No! Our programs are currently FREE to participate in. If we have an official competition you may be required to pay a small fee to cover the cost of referees or umpires.

Do you have coaches?

Yes! All our staff and volunteers are trained and accredited coaches, program facilitators, and have Working with Vulnerable People cards and National Police Checks. All out staff have some form of Fist Aid training at varying levels.

What is the recommended age to participate?

We recommend over the age of 10 years subject to physical capabilities and maturity. We are developing a specialised children's program due to roll out late FEB 2025.
