About this event

Come along to hear from Alana Delaforce from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australian E-Health Research Centre)

Join us for an insightful presentation from Alana Delaforce, Team Leader of the Health Implementation Science team at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australian E-Health Research Centre).

"Why Implementation Science Matters," will explore the role of implementation science in evaluating digital health tools in acute care settings. As digital health interventions become increasingly integrated into healthcare, assessing their true impact can be challenging—especially when they don’t deliver the expected results.

Alana will unpack implementation science and how it goes beyond surface metrics like engagement or usage rates to reveal deeper contextual factors affecting the success or failure of digital tools. Through a real-world example, Alana will discuss how this approach uncovers why some interventions fall short, even when they appear highly utilised.

This session is a valuable opportunity to learn how healthcare teams can apply implementation science to make better-informed decisions, refine tools, and avoid common pitfalls in adopting digital health solutions.

About the Speaker:
Alana holds a PhD in Implementation Science and a clinical background in perioperative nursing. She brings a unique blend of academic rigour and practical experience to her work, which focuses on understanding and evaluating the implementation of digital health tools.

Alana's extensive experience in hospital safety and quality management has also honed her ability to approach challenges with a process-driven mindset and a focus on co-design, leading to high-quality innovation and impactful outcomes.
