Wind Ensemble @ Open Music Academy - Term 3, 2023

When: Every Saturday afternoon- 26 August to 23 September join tutor Alevia Evci for Wind Ensemble at the Elder Conservatorium of Music.

Venue: Bishop Hall Elder Conservatorium - North Terrace, Adelaide - see map

Time: 2pm-3pm

Instrument: trumpet, trombone, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, french horn, bassoon (all wind and brass essentially)

Who can join? You must be of school age. You must have been learning your instrument for at least one year to meet the minimum level requirement.

About Open Music Academy

The Open Music Academy opens the doors to Australia's renowned Elder Conservatorium of Music, provides high-quality music education with access to leading educators, musicians, and events. Our program inspires and challenges students at all levels, nurturing their musical growth. We offer one-on-one lessons, ensemble sessions, and performances for school-aged children. Located in Adelaide, Australia lessons are held at the historic Elder Conservatorium buildings nestled in the University of Adelaide.

Since its inception in 2018, the Open Music Academy has experienced significant growth, with an initial enrolment of 50 students expanding to 200 students by 2023 teaching 17 instruments. Find out more

About Alevia Evci

Alevia holds a Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance) with a specialisation in saxophone, she is currently pursuing her Honours in performance. Apart from her studies, she has delved into conducting under the guidance of esteemed mentors Dr. Luke Dollman and Carl Crossin OAM. Alevia shares her musical knowledge by teaching saxophone, clarinet, and trombone at various educational institutions.

Alevia has had active participation in the Adelaide Youth Orchestras, JazzSA Superbands program, and community bands across Adelaide. As a member of the Elder Conservatorium Wind Orchestra, Alevia takes on the role of mentor for new members. She is captivated by the unique sounds and textures produced by the ensemble, as well as the sense of community and camaraderie that develops among like-minded musicians.
