About the Speakers

Dr Jim Griffin is a retired medical practitioner. His father, Vince, was the Supervising Engineer for the Qld section of the Seacom project and Jim will donate a framed copy of the iconic Wildhorse Mountain survey photo at the presentation.

John Rostron is a retired Senior Project Manager with 40 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry; specialising in installing and augmenting the telecommunications network across multiple technologies during that time. John’s career started a few years before the push towards the digitisation of the network which has given him a broad insight into the transition from analogue to digital to ICT. John managed the Major Projects group in Telstra for five years before retiring in 2018.

About the Talk

Seacom was an international project, and the Queensland microwave section dramatically modernized communication in the State in several important ways which will be outlined at the presentation. A copy of the photograph is currently in RHSQ’s book” Lost Brisbane 2”.
