Paper Trail Workshop 3: Zine-making with Miranda Rogers

5.30 – 7.30pm, Tuesday 10 December 2024

A fast paced and practical class focusing on using the history of zines to make our art. This workshop will include advice on how to fold and make many types of zines, how to expand an idea into a multipanel comic, using left over materials and art to make zines on the cheap, and how to use fast drawing techniques to get out of your head and make art.

I've been part of the Hobart zine making community since 2016 and part of the small team that organises our yearly fair since 2021. Zines and comic making has become integral to my art practice as a vessel for exploring a concept from different angles. I love working with paper so whatever medium I choose, paper is always the vessel for my stories. Things that inspire my art practice at present: my cat, gardening and memories from childhood.

Make your own zine through the Paper Trail workshop series! These hands-on workshops are lead by local artists Leigh Rigozzi, Miranda Rogers and Jess Bateman. Come along to as many workshops as you like to experiment with different styles and learn about how each artist approaches zine-making. Participants are invited to submit their zines in the Paper Trail exhibition at Contemporary Art Tasmania
