Who can safely cross a creek? Who can read the clouds in the sky? Who can help the plants to grow? YOU - Our Bushland Superhero!

Term 4 is all about developing children’s bush skills to confidently play in and care for the bushland environment. This will involve experiences which promote autonomy, resilience, and problem-solving such as climbing, walking along bush trails, obstacle courses and tackling different surfaces and structures. Children will also participate in group activities to develop their teamwork skills (sharing and cheering) through construction, map making and other challenges. Activities include:

  • Bush skills; building cubbies and shelters, safety, reading simple maps, creating useful objects using natural materials, plant and animal identification and reading the weather
  • Physical challenges; climbing, balancing, navigating different surfaces and how these challenges can promote wellbeing and further enrich children’s explorations
  • Ongoing observation of seasonal changes in the environment and ways to care for the bush.
